Dr. Mike Miller - Senior Pastor

Dr. Mike Miller joined the Central Baptist Church family in January 2017 as Senior Pastor. He was ordained by Calvary Baptist Church in Burleson, TX, in 1993. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana Tech University in Professional Aviation; a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; a Master of Theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary; a Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Preaching from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served as Pastor of several Baptist churches, including First Baptist Church, Kenner, LA; McElwain Baptist Church, Birmingham, AL; First Baptist Church, Easton, MD; and Shannon Creek Baptist Church, Burleson, TX. He also served as Minister of Evangelism at Calvary Baptist Church, Burleson, TX.

Dr. Miller was 21 years old when he started attending a Methodist church with his wife, Terri. It was there that he first heard the Easter story and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1987, he trusted Jesus as his Savior and Lord. Dr. Miller surrendered to God’s call to vocational ministry while working as a corporate jet pilot in Spring 1991, when he and Terri were attending Frist Baptist Church in Odessa. He entered Southwestern Seminary in
August 1992, and God called him to be Minister of Evangelism at Calvary Baptist Church in Burleson soon after. Within two months, he was approached by representatives of The Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Johnson Baptist Association about planting a new church. Dr. Miller says God used that time to develop his preaching and leadership skills before being called to First Baptist, Easton, MD. The church had been through a split, but through prayer and the teaching of God’s Word, the church was blessed with health and growth. The church in Birmingham showed signs of turning from a period of decline and division, and First Baptist, Kenner became a well-rounded, healthy church, after suffering significant loss during Hurricane Katrina.

Mike and Terri are the parents of Bryan (wife Claire), Bailey, and Michael (wife Rebecca), and more importantly,
grandparents of Riley and Liam. They’re also the proud parents of their dogs Honeybelle and Nolaroux. In his spare time, Dr. Miller enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, all things fitness related, and  reading. Dr. Miller says his favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 5:21, where the whole message of Christ is summed up in a few words.
